'Let it dough'..... Good tidings via baked goods and sprinkles

I love these photos by Christoph Niemann that featured on the NY Times this weekend. Nothing screams festive cheer like cookies, sprinkles and a few hot toddies all set to a snowy backdrop...

... aaaaannndddd I'm hungry.

I am a bit of a burger fiend and with London being a pretty great city for pop-up burger restaurants I like to try and find the next best place to go.

I am also a big fan of Family Guy. Along with Friends and the Victoria's Secret fashion show, it is always something that is a regular on my Sky+. If you also appreciate both burgers and FG I think you will also be a big fan of the Cheese & Burger website.

Turn the sound up and enjoy the dulcet tones of Joe Swanson telling you all about the heavenly cheese surrounding some juicy beef goodness and feast your eyes on these bad boys. . . .

I'll take one Uncle Sam and two Bohemians please. To go. Extra fries.

IPPA awards

The annual iPhone photography awards.... Yes this is a real thing and you know what. I'm tempted to enter.

''iPhone Photography Awards™ (IPPAWARDS) is the first and the longest running iPhone photography competition since 2007. IPPAWARDS has been celebrating the creativity of the iPhone users since the first iPhone has inspired, excited and engaged the users worldwide. Since then every year, IPPAWARDS has selected the best shots among thousands of images submitted by iPhone photographers from 38 countries around the world. Winners are selected by the jury members in several steps and The Photographer of the Year prize awarded. All winners are published online and will be part of The IPPAWARDS Interactive Annual series of books on iTunes.''

Unfortunately it seems that you have to pay per image that you enter- I guess they have to fund their 16 prize winning gold bars from somewhere.

If you've taken a look through the previous year's entries you'll notice that the first couple of years are pretty crummy. The standards have definitely been raised but I'm confident that after a year of taking photos on my phone will result in at least one that should be entry-worthy.

The deadline to enter for the next awards is March 31st 2014 so we have a while to get creative!

A couple of my favourites from this year. . . .

''All photographers compete for the 3 IPPAWARDS Photographers of the Year. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
All images must be taken with an iPhone or an iPod. The photos should not be altered in Photoshop or any desktop image processing program.

Prizes
3 iPad Minis
All entries compete for the prestigious IPPA Photographer of the Year Award title, and the top 3 will receive a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad Mini.

16 Gold Bars
The top entry from each of the 16 IPPA categories will win a Gold Bar from the most recognizable private gold mint in the world.

The work of the top winner and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Winners on each category will be publicized on IPPAWARDS online gallery and any published IPPAWARDS materials.
Certificates in all Categories
All 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners from each categories will receive a IPPAWARDS certificate.

I love my home inspiration #3

In the UK we don't really have porches like America - you guys love a good porch to sit and contemplate life whilst simultaneously spying on your neighbours . . . . . Now don't ask me why because I hated this book at school but 'To kill a mockingbird' has popped into my mind with this one.

Maybe it's the rustic charm that attracts me, the late nights sat outside, reading on a sunny day and my dream of living near the beach to have the sea view but I dream of having a porch!

I love the simple colours- whites and beachy blues, fairy lights and wisteria. Add a glass of wine and a good book and I am happy!

I love her Italian inventions prints. Simple with a pop of colour and would look amazing on a feature wall. I want! La Vespa is my fave. . . Wasp.

Sweet summer sucre

As much as I hate to say it and as much as you hate to read it the truth is that Summer is on it's way out.

Don't shoot the messenger! I'm simply noting that I've noticed that the sun is getting lazy. It isn't up as early or partying as hard late into the evenings anymore. It's stamina is waning. These long lazy evenings spilling out onto the streets from the pub, lunches in the park and travelling on the train without hat, scarf and gloves are soon to be a distant memory. Sunglasses will need to be thrown out as the next time they're needed they'll no longer be in fashion and my skin will no longer see the light of day and will turn to a sorry shade of ricotta.

Although, I am looking forward to getting my jumpers out again, having a legitimate excuse to drink hot chocolate with extra cream and marshmallows (I need the extra blubber to keep me warm alright) and not shaving my legs again until next Spring. Also the lack of hairy male toes on the streets will be a blessing. Put them away Bilbo. So you win some you lose some.

As a final hurrah to Summer I have scoured the internet using up my precious precious time. . . . to compile a bunch of  rainbow, sparkle happiness to keep our days alight while the sun heads down-under. That's what she said.

Firstly these rainbow wooden party goods. If you suffer a similar affliction to me then these might not be for you - wooden lolly pop stick on the tongue awfulness, dry as sandpaper and like a cat licking it's inner thigh - but if not then shop away! Sucre Shop

The festival season in the UK has come to a close, which for us Brits always equals a bad time. No more debauched fun in tents whilst getting on the sauce with a big group of friends once a month and jumping around a disused cow field in wellies and shorts.

A lot of festival fashion offends me greatly. Ass hanging out of shorts, crop tops exposing muffin top and other quirky insanity. If you want to fit in then just channel Joseph and his technicolour-dreamcoat meets Krusty the clown meets old time gypsy queen and you've nailed it. Welcome to Glastonbury.

That said I am a fan of the quirk, just not the batty crease (see ass hanging out of shorts)
These are a prime example (the name says it all) and I'm sad to only find them now because next year I can sure as hell tell you they won't be in fashion.

Apart from belonging in the category of 'daylight robbery' (£350 per letter. Graham you sure are taking the piss this time) I need at least one of these lights in and around my life asap. A 'P' would be ideal although a 'B' would also be welcomed just to add a little excitement to my room. I LOVE these!!

As much as I love my new job I have to admit that I miss my old one. Mostly for the products. . . well, only for the products. Nothing like open a giant box of new stock before the manager gets to it.

If you're a fan of colour and all things pretty for the kitchen then this is the design for you. Rice DK. A magpie print on my plate? Hell yes. Mix matched colours in mint and coral? Yes please. Just add ice cream and sprinkles and I'm sold. (Also from Shirleyz)

Fabian Oefner

Fabian Oefner is a Swiss investigator, photographer and artist, whose work moves between the fields of art and science. . . . Basically he does awesome stuff with paint and bubbles and a super fast shutter speed.

Take a look at his website for more photos and experiments here but if you're too lazy for that then I have a round up of my favourites here.

Black hole

Various shades of acrylic paint are dripped onto a metallic rod, which is connected to a drill. When switched on, the paint starts to move away from the rod, creating these amazing looking structures.

These are my favourite- the photos here don't do them justice though so take a look at his website- they make me think of space and stars and black holes.

Dancing colours

Mounted a thin plastic foil on top of the membrane of a common loud speaker he then adds hundreds of colorful, tiny crystals onto the foil.
Each time a sound is played through the speaker, the vibration caused will make the crystals jump up and down forming these peculiar looking forms and figures. Depending on the frequency, pitch and volume of the tone, the figures change their appearance.

These make me think of sweets- millions or hundreds and thousands. . . . Or cheetos.

Liquid jewel

The structures you see are modeling balloons covered with paint right after they have been pricked with a needle. The air inside the balloon expands explosively, throwing the paint in all different directions.

I love how you can see the paint merging together and running into each other.

Millefiori

The shapes, you see in these image are only about the size of a thumbnail. They are created with the aid of a very peculiar material: ferrofluid.

This liquid has a very unique property. It is magnetic, caused by the millions nano iron particles in it. When put under a magnetic field, the particles in the solution start to rearrange due to the attraction and repulsion of iron.

I love the blue and yellow photo- It reminds me of images of the Great Barrier Reef from above.
